FAQ
CANDLE QUESTIONS
What does Phthalate and Paraben free mean?
Phthalate is an additive that is often added to fragrances to help with scent throw. It also is known to give off potentially harmful toxins that can disrupt your endocrine system causing long-term effects on child growth and development as well as reproductive health. They may also aggravate asthma symptoms. Parabens are commonly used for a preservative. Parabens may disrupt hormones and cause imbalances. That’s why we choose not to use them in our products.
Why do you choose soy wax?
Soy wax is a renewable, natural wax that can be produced in North America. Therefore it can be sustainably and ethically sourced. It offers a longer-lasting burn making it more economical and a cleaner burn which leads to less harsh chemicals in the air in your home.
My candle doesn’t smell as strong as I’m used too.
Our candles are designed to enhance not overwhelm your space through the flickering light and aromatherapy a candle can give. As mentioned in earlier FAQ we choose to use natural soy wax and stay away from phthalates and parabens which in general cause for a softer scent throw decreasing your chances of headaches that you might get from strong paraffin wax candles. Our candles are about 3” in diameter with one wick which is used to fill a room with fragrance about the size of standard bedroom or bathroom. If your room is larger you will either need more than one candle or find a candle with 2 or more wicks. Bigger melt pool equals stronger scent throw.
What is tunneling and what to do to avoid it?
Tunneling is when a small amount of wax melts around the wick without reaching the edges of the jar. This creates a candle that struggles to burn properly causing wax waste and decreasing burn time and scent throw.
To avoid tunneling, don’t blow your candle out until it reaches a full melt pool. Meaning that the wax is melted all the way to the edge of the jar. If you blow it out before that it may effect the rest of the burn of your candle. This is especially important on the first couple of burns.
